About The Founder
As Founder and CEO of Avocado Inc. Sarah is living out a life-long dream to be an entrepreneur. She inherited her entrepreneurial spirit from her father, who has run his own construction company for 40 years.
“My father has always worked so hard,” she says. “He taught me it’s not about making money, it’s about helping people. I like to help people go after their dreams. That’s what marketing is. Most companies are somebody’s dream.”
Her previous credits have taken her to the world of retail, where she was one of the youngest department managers helping run three departments. Her stint in corporate America gave her incredible insight into the world of sales. Nearly five years in the software and the IT world, spanning roles such as sales, business analyst, and project management have helped her to better understand customer needs and deliver optimal solutions. She has 13 years of experience working with small businesses.
Sarah currently holds two undergrad degrees, one in advertising, with a minor in psychology, and another in business with a minor in entrepreneurship. Typically you'll find Sarah headed out to meetings in jeans and a jacket. It fits her laid back image perfectly. Her approach is to meet prospective clients for a relaxed chat and really get to know them before coming up with a plan to help them.
She lives in the Chicago area with her Golden Retriever Apple but spends as much time as she can outdoors. Whether it's up jet-skiing at the lake house, golfing in Michigan or road-tripping south to Nashville. Some of her hobbies include biking, hiking and canoeing, technology, theater, and collecting and reading as many books as she can get her hands on.
Sarah is currently pursuing her MBA at Benedictine University and plays a very active role in Empowering Women Network, Inc., the Naperville Chamber and has even co-founded her own exclusive networking/professional development group in Naperville, called TABLE.
Her next adventure, in progress, is her first book, preliminarily scheduled to come out in 2011, focused on the art of engagement. She has also recently begun speaking for various organizations on topics such as the effective use of social media, building brands that gain attention, and learning to engage with prospects and customers.
